Ms. Susan Bliss

Governing Board Member

Ms. Bliss has lived in the Phoenix Elementary School District #1 for twenty-five years and has served on the District Governing Board since 1996. She served as President of the Governing Board for two years. Each of her three children attended the district schools.

She is actively involved in the community where she organized her neighborhood association in 1984. She also served on two village planning committees regarding quality of life issues and the schools and served as a parent volunteer in her neighborhood school.

Ms. Bliss is an attorney. She worked for the Maricopa County Public Defender for nineteen years and as an environmental attorney in Washington DC, Arizona and New Mexico for ten years. She received her law degree from the University of Arizona, as well a Master of Arts in Anthropology. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.
