Alternative Placements and Long Term Suspensions
The district recognizes that some students have difficulty conforming to the rules and expectations that are inherent in a school environment. Every effort is made to support students who are struggling behaviorally before moving toward an alternative placement. Certain disciplinary infractions, as are outlined in the Student Code of Conduct Handbook trigger an alternative placement automatically and may lead to long term suspensions. Students placed in alternative placements are monitored for progress and are returned to their home schools as appropriate. Special education services, for eligible students, are provided during the time when students are placed in alternative settings.
