Student Services District Office Personnel

  • Diane Wray, Director of Special Education
    • I am the Director of Special Education at the District Office with the Phoenix Elementary School District. I have been with the district since July 2010.
    • Currently, I am responsible for overseeing the district's special education programs, related service staff, and federal funding for students with disabilities. I am also the district coordinator for 504 plans. I look forward to making your child's success at Phoenix Elementary School District an enjoyable experience.
  • Gail Harris, Special Education Program & Compliance Coordinator
    • This is my 28th year in the field of Special Education and I am so grateful to be in a district that embraces diversity and includes all students, no matter disability, within their boundaries. I hope to spend many more years assisting the move of Phoenix Elementary into the elite category of "Exceeding" in the area of Special Education.
    • My responsibilities are far-reaching. I travel the district offering services in the area of Special Education Compliance (Individualized Educational Programs-Inclusion, Resource, and Self Contained). I work closely with principals, teachers, support staff, related services personnel, and parents to assure that district goals and mandates are upheld. I also review and setup all transportation requests for special education students.
  • Sharon Carpenter, Lead Psychologist & Compliance Coordinator
    • I am a certified school psychologist charged with overseeing the provision of psychological services district-wide. I consult and collaborate with the district's psychologists to ensure that students receive the appropriate educational support they need, such as through evaluation and placement activities.
    • At this time, I also oversee privately placed students in terms of their annual reviews and re-evaluations, as well as monitoring readiness to return to the district programs in place.
  • Sandie Larriva, Special Education Preschool Specialist
    • I oversee all of our preschool students with Special Needs in the Phoenix Elementary School District. I work with our directors, teachers and support staff to ensure quality programs for the students in our District Preschool Programs as well as the Head Start Programs in our district.
    • I also coordinate the Child Find Program for our district. I oversee the process, from referral, screening, evaluation, identification, and placement of our preschool students in the Least Restrictive Environment.
    • One of my greatest joys is working with and supporting our students along with their families as they support their child's educational needs. I enjoy being part of the "village" that supports our students and their future.
  • Pamelia Harris, Curriculum Resource Specialist, ALPS
    • I am the Curriculum Resource Specialist for ALPS, the District's Gifted and Talented Program. I assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the gifted education curriculum. I also manage the student identification process for gifted education between the home schools and ALPS. I provide leadership and instructional support for the ALPS Teachers and students.
    • I have been with district for over 11 years with eight of those years as a classroom teacher at Magnet Traditional School. My last three years at Magnet I served as teacher assistant to the principal in addition to my classroom responsibilities.
  • Jack Day, Early Childhood Coordinator
    • Phoenix Elementary #1 offers our community a variety of high quality early education programs provided by a highly qualified and experienced instructional and support staff. I am very proud to part of this great team!
    • In my role I coordinate and implement all early education programs for the district. I also monitor and evaluate the implementation of the early education instructional program. I am responsible for the licensure and accreditation of our district preschools. I serve as a resource of information on child development and developmentally appropriate practices and on current research on early education. I provide professional development and instructional support for our early education instructional staff. Sandie Larriva, PESD #1 Preschool Special Education Resource Teacher and I collaborate in the coordination and implementation of the Preschool Inclusion program. I also collaborate with the Booker T.   • Marcy Gardunio, RN, M.Ed, Health and Wellness Nurse
    • I am a registered nurse with a master's degree in Education and have been with the district since 2010.
  • Abie Boettcher, Administrative Technician
    • I have been with the district over 10 years. Currently, I am the assistant to the Director of Student Services, provide support to all Student Services staff, greet parents and previous students at the front desk of Student Services.
  • Yolanda Federico, Accounting Technician for Special Education
    • I have worked for the special education department for 21 years and the Phoenix Elementary School District for a total of 31 years. I am currently the Accounting Technician for the Student Services Department. I handle the accounting aspects of the Student Services Department which include entering requests for purchases and services, payment of invoices, monitoring expenditures, and printing expenditure reports. I purchase and ensure that all the fix assets purchased by the Student Services Department are tagged and logged into a data base. I obtain signatures for the Time and Effort Reports and maintain the logs in accordance with ADE requirements. I am the time editor for the contract vendors that work for the Student Services Department. I obtain badges and train all contract vendors on our Time System (Time America).
  • Jennifer Carpenter, Special Education Records Clerk/MIPS
    • I am the Special Education Records Clerk as well as the Medicaid Direct Service Coordinator for the district. I started with the district in 2010.
    • Some of my duties include processing records requests, maintaining files, upgrading files to a more efficient and organized system, coordinating Medicaid service records and billing. I also assist with various jobs around the office wherever I am needed.
  • Juanita McDaniel, General Education Records Clerk
    • I am the General Education Records Clerk. I have been with the district since 1994.
    • I process district wide general education student records, process student record requests of all non-active students, maintain permanent student records and historical records dating back to 1885.
  • Rosa Alvarez, Preschool Secretary
    • I am the Special Education Preschool Secretary. I have been with the district since 2008.
    • I enjoy working with the families of preschoolers. My duties include scheduling appointments for Preschool Child Find, support staff for Student Services and preparing preschool special education records.
  • Jennie Ramoz, Secretary II
    • Currently, I assist the Early Childhood department and Special Education Preschool programs for the district.
  • Fiona Roberts, Special Education Software Support Technician
    • I am a Software Support Technician for the Phoenix Elementary special education student information software called Genesea. I have been with the district since 2009.
    • My main focus is supporting the student information special education system called Genesea. I also support all areas of technology and for the Special Education Department.
