SUN Bucks

Summer Grocery Benefits

SUN Bucks is the Arizona Department of Education’s Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program (Summer-EBT/SUN Bucks). It provides grocery-buying benefits to low-income families with school-aged children who lose access to free or reduced-price school meals when schools are closed for the summer.

$120 per child • One-time benefit • Use for groceries • Benefits expire after 122 days

Do you need to apply?

Maybe. The best way to find out is to click the button below and fill out the form.

 Check Eligibility

Some families will receive SUN Bucks automatically. Your child may qualify if they:

  • Receive free or reduced-price school meals
  • Participate in SNAP, TANF, or income-based Medicaid
  • Are in foster care, Head Start, or qualify as homeless or migrant youth

If your child receives AHCCCS through SSI, Adoption Subsidy, or Foster Care, you may still need to apply.  All students in Phoenix Elementary School #1 receive free meals, but that doesn't mean all students qualify for SUN Bucks.

Apply by August 3, 2026

If your child is not automatically eligible, you must apply.
