Welcome

Welcome to Emerson Elementary School, where we ignite the spark of learning in every child! Emerson is a Preschool – Grade 5 learning community dedicated to the promise in every child. We are developing a growth mindset to become independent learners, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. We provide differentiated standards-based instruction through relevant contexts.
Emerson has long had a legacy of feeling like home. As a community school nestled in the Coronado Neighborhood, many students walk to school and many parents take the drive because they attended Emerson years ago.
With proximity to Banner University Medical Center and Bioscience High School, Emerson is uniquely positioned to maintain partnerships with these and other central Phoenix institutions to create new learning opportunities for our students. Even our after-school program is provided by G-Road, a non-profit that was started by a Phoenix #1 alumnus and Coronado Resident.
School Goals
As a Community School, Emerson’s mission is to bring our community into the school and our students into the community to increase access to opportunities for higher learning.

Grades K-5 Academics
A strong foundation of learning in the primary grades leads to lifelong learning success. By offering high quality instruction aligned to the rigor of the K-5 Arizona state standards, classroom lessons are planned and implemented in the areas of foundational reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. Teachers provide engaging instruction using standards-aligned resources and instructional best practices to ensure every student learns and achieves in every grade level and subject area.
Our programs are designed to meet the needs of all students quickly and effectively through strong grade-level instruction. Staff uses data-based decision making to provide appropriate evidence-based intervention and enrichment opportunities.
To continue building and sustaining our collaborative learning community, teachers meet regularly within and across grade levels and participate in professional development.
