How to Enroll
Shaw Montessori is part of Phoenix Elementary School District #1 and offers a free public Montessori education. Phoenix Elementary School District #1 offers open enrollment, meaning that individuals can live outside of the school district boundary and still attend Shaw Montessori. The campus is at 123 North 13th Street with primary, elementary and middle school classrooms.
Shaw Montessori admits students of any economic and social class, racial and ethnic heritage, religious belief and family structure. In order to be considered for the Primary Program, a child must be 3, 4 or 5 by September 1st. Children who are 6, 7 or 8 by September 1st will be considered for our Junior Elementary Program and children who are 9, 10 or 11 by September 1st are considered for Senior Elementary. The Middle School Program serves students who are 12-14 years of age.
Generally, placement is done from a wait list based on availability for each age. By and large, the 3 year old age has the most openings.
Augustus H. Shaw Montessori is participating in a longitudinal study being conducted by The Riley Institute at Furman University. The flip side of the wait list application provides details and provides participation information.
