• Menu and Nutrition Information

  • The school meals served by the Child Nutrition team at Phoenix #1 adhere to the USDA's meal pattern guidelines, which align closely with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. For breakfast and lunch, we offer whole grain-rich items, a variety of fruits and vegetables from different subgroups, lean proteins, low-fat or fat-free dairy options, and carefully balanced calories and sodium levels. We also ensure our meals are low in saturated fat and contain no trans fats.

The Child Nutrition administrative team, featuring a Registered Dietitian and certified School Nutrition Specialists with over 20 years of combined experience in various food service roles, meticulously reviews and approves our menus. This careful oversight ensures compliance with USDA regulations and that our meals are well-balanced and nutritious for our students.

Additionally, we are proud to be 1 of 10 Arizona school districts who collaborate with the Arizona Department of Education Health & Nutrition Services, the Chef Ann Foundation, and the LifeTime Foundation in the Create Your Kitchen program. These partnerships help us continuously improve our program and achieve the goals outlined in the Child Nutrition strategic plan.

Through our partnership with the LifeTime Foundation, we have access to software that allows us to analyze the products on our menus. We are also 1 of 6 Arizona districts to have signed on to the LifeTime Foundation's Ingredient Guide for Better School Purchasing, highlighting our commitment to the guide's goals and recommendations.
